About Us
What If.....No One Answered The Call?
What if you called to report a fire or other emergency and no one answered the call?
Did you know that nearly 80% of America’s fire service is volunteer?

We often get asked on calls if we are volunteer. Yes we are! The McGregor Volunteer Fire Department is virtually all volunteer which means that when we get a call, we stop family dinner, work, errands and often sleep to respond to our communities needs.

Like everyone else, we are doing more with less these days. We have more training requirements than ever before (almost 200 hours to become a certified firefighter), more paperwork (insurance, maintenance, and administration of the firehouse) and overall less time it seems.

We are able to provide our exceptional service because our of dedicated volunteers: from respond to calls like our Firefighters, hold fundraising events with McGregor Fire Auxiliary to running our Administration through various committees and the Board of Directors.

We can’t do it alone though. We are looking for volunteers to answer the call. We believe that every skill fulfills a need, whether you’re a chef who can help with our kitchen, CDL driver who can drive the trucks, lawyer or accountant that can help with the administration, marketing/social media gurus to get our message out or photographer to capture what we do – we can use you!

For those of you who want to know what it’s like to be a volunteer Firefighter, come and visit us during our regularly scheduled training nights on Tuesdays @ 7pm
